What you’ll accomplish
By the end of this guide, you’ll have:
- Created a template for your production files
- Mapped a Shopify product to Instant Art Kit
- Added the upload button to your Shopify product page
Part 1: Create a template
First, we need to create a template. Templates define the layout of your production files (the print-ready files that go to your supplier).
Step 1: Open the template manager
- Log in to your Instant Art Kit dashboard
- Navigate to Templates in the main menu
- Click Create template
Step 2: Configure the template
You’ll see the template editor with a preview on the left and adjustment controls on the right.
-
Name your template Give it a descriptive name like “Diamond Painting Standard” or “My Premium Template”
-
Upload your logo (optional) Click “Upload logo file” to select your logo image
Step 3: Save the template
Once you’re happy with the preview, click Save template. Your template is now ready to use with products.
Tip: You can download the template using the button in the top right to preview it. This is advised since the interactive preview is not a 100% accurate representation of the final output.
Part 2: Create and map your product
Now that you have a template, let’s connect it to one of your Shopify products.
Step 4: Start creating a product
- Navigate to Products in the Instant Art Kit dashboard
- Click Create product
Step 5: Select your Shopify product
Choose the corresponding Shopify product from the dropdown list. This will be the product customers order from your store.
Step 6: Link the template
Select the template you just created from the template dropdown. This tells Instant Art Kit which layout to use for production files.
Step 7: Map Shopify variants to Instant Art Kit variants
This is where you connect your Shopify product options (like “Size cm” or “Stones”) to Instant Art Kit properties (like “Size in cm” or “Stone type”).
For example:
- Shopify option “Size cm” → Instant Art Kit property “Size in cm”
- Shopify option “Stones” → Instant Art Kit property “Stone type”
Step 8: Wait for processing
Instant Art Kit will analyze all your product variants and create a clean mapping list. This usually takes just a few seconds.
Step 9: Review and adjust
Once processing completes, review the variant mappings. You can adjust any mappings that don’t look quite right.
Step 10: Save the product
Click Save to finalize your product mapping. Your product is now configured in Instant Art Kit.
Important note
Changing variant mappings later will wipe existing data (though it never touches your Shopify store). Make sure your mappings are correct before saving.
Part 3: Add the upload button to Shopify
The final step is adding the Instant Art Kit upload button to your Shopify product page so customers can upload their images.
Step 11: Open your Shopify product page editor
- Go to your Shopify admin
- Navigate to Online Store → Themes
- Click Customize on your active theme
- Find and open the product page for the product you just mapped
Step 12: Add the Instant Art Kit block
- Choose the location Usually the best place is directly under the “Product information” section
- Hover over that section and click the + button This opens the block selector
- Go to the “Apps” tab You’ll see a list of app blocks available in your theme
- Click “Instant Art Kit” The upload button will now appear on your product page
Step 13: Customize the button (optional)
To adjust the button’s appearance:
- Click on the Instant Art Kit button block you just added
- Use the right-hand panel to customize button text, colors, and styling
Step 14: Customize popup styling
To customize the upload popup appearance, go to Instant Art Kit → Settings in your dashboard.
