What is the file upload block?

The Instant Art Kit Upload block adds a simple upload field to your product page. Customers pick an image, it’s attached to their order as a line item property, and you get a download link with the order. No preview generation involved.

A file is always required: customers can’t add the product to their cart until they’ve uploaded one.

Adding the block

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize
2. Open a product page template
3. Add the Instant Art Kit Upload app block inside the product form area

Block settings

• Show field label / Field label: the heading above the upload field, or hide it entirely
• Show help text / Help text: the note below the field, or hide it entirely
• Button text: the upload button’s label, emoji welcome (e.g. Upload your photo here 📷)
• Button size: small, medium, or large
• Full-width button: stretch the button to the full block width
• Button colors: background, text, and hover color. Left blank, the button follows the brand colors from the app’s Settings page, so you normally don’t need to set these per block
• Custom CSS: for anything the settings above don’t cover, add CSS declarations that are applied directly to the upload button, e.g. border-radius: 0; text-transform: uppercase;

File storage limits

Your plan includes a file storage limit. The dashboard shows your current usage under File storage used, and we’ll warn you when you pass 80% of your limit.

Automatic cleanup

Uploaded files don’t stay forever. After an order is placed, its files are kept for your plan’s retention period and then deleted automatically, freeing up storage without you doing anything. Download the files you need for production before the retention period ends.
